Review: Hotel Ocean Drive Ibiza

  • 21 May 2014 |

This is our first visit to Ibiza. Hotel Ocean Drive Ibiza is our first ‘victim’ during this trip. It’s located in the marina part of the old town, and we’re excited because the surroundings and the hotel outside look awesome!

The location of the hotel is ideal. You have this amazing view over the marina and the famous old town of Ibiza. It’s within walking distance of the buzzing city centre, but you need to take into account it will take you around 30 minutes to get there.

The hotel is part of the chain. We’ve been in a few hotels that are member of this ‘club’ and from the outside it looks logical that these guys are part of this ‘group’. The outside has a really cool ‘Miami Vice’ look and if the inside is just as ‘Art Deco’ as the outside, we’re in for a treat.

But it’s not. The hotel is pretty common on the inside. It’s just a lobby with a restaurant and a number of rooms on top of it. This might sound a bit negative but that’s because we were expecting something completely different.

After 2 days of staying at Ocean Drive we can’t find a single thing we didn’t like about the hotel. The staff is friendly, the rooms are (small) clean, breakfast is perfect, parking is easy… Basically, everything is just fine, it’s just that we can’t get over the fact that the interior design is bit out of place. A bit boring.

The room we stay in is located on the 5th floor and is a room with a view. The room is pretty cool and sweet but nothing really spectacular. It’s got all the normal amenities you’ll find in a decent hotel. The bathroom that’s connected with the bedroom is nice and again decent.

Our breakfast the next morning is one of the highlights of our stay at hotel Ocean Drive. There’s everything you can wish for. So no bad words about that either.

In the end we did like Hotel Ocean Drive. It’s just that we can’t get over the fact that the interior feels like a major missed opportunity. If they change this into the same art deco style is the exterior, this hotel would be a must visit for every tourist and local.
